This was announced in May of last year. The only thing new is the kickoff time.

I think he is trying to save face. Look at the amount of votes the new DA received based largely on his mishandling of the case. He knows this issue could make or break his re-election. Seems to little to late now.

I think it's a big gamble to assume a freshman quarterback two months out of high school can pick up that system and be good at it. I think Hackenberg is going to be terrific down the road. But Waters has what it takes to be terrific soon.

It will a good fit for the lions if he is good as is stats the lions mite pull a buckeye season undefeated and hac would make the future bright in happy valley.

Toast? Have you been watching PSU this year. With everything that's happened they are doing fantastic and can only help recruit good players. You seem to have a personal vendetta against these kids who did NOTHING wrong. Grow up.

Won't make any difference, PSU will be toast by 2014 and hopefully end up like SMU in the next couple of years and i hope it stays that way for the next 25+ years like it did to SMU.

Owl fan, huh? Either that or a lib sycophant. Firstly, your 'picture' shows a near-empty house. Final attendance - 93680 (not too shabby). Secondly, your left-handed compliments towards the Lions (they had two drives stall ["incidentally, they punted"?] in Owl's territory.) What does it matter if they were in Owl's territory or not. Most, if not all stalled drives end in PUNTS. (...duh...) Lastly, what the devil does the sound crew playing ' that big no-no song' have to do with anything but a reference to the Penn State Administration scandal (that's right, bubba - not the kids who have to deal with insanely heavy-handed "penalties" DICTATED by 'der EnZeeAyAy' [Achtung Baby]) that no one wants to remember, but can't (using selective memory, of course) forget? You should've been up in the ESPN broadcast booth to spew more lies and allusions with those two "commentators" last Saturday. In that case, three would not have been a crowd.

Not to be argumentative, but why as a PSU alum or fan should we wish Silas well? I don't wish for him to fail or to get injured, but I am no longer rooting for him to succeed either. I don't know all of the reasons why Silas transferred, but from where I sit, at a time when his team, his coaches, his classmates and his university needed him to take a stand in unity, he chose to turn his back on all of those people for personal self-gain.

I reserve my well wishes for those who stayed behind to honor their commitment, their school and their teammates and those who have pledged to attend PSU in the fall. Unfortunately, that group no longer includes Silas by his own choice.

An even better example of lack of NCAA punishment was when Notre Dame football coaching negligence resulted in the death of a student filming football practice. The student was allowed up in a flimsy lift during a day with sustained high winds and gusts that exceeded the safety limits.

Not big surprise that the lift blew over and the student was killed.

I think Erickson seems like a wimp. They never should have made him President because he helped give Sandusky continuing access to campus in 1999 when he retired.

When he was Provost, Erickson was asked to approve emeritus status for Sandusky despite Sandusky not having the minimum academic rank to qualify.

Erickson had major reservations but caved and approved it anyway. Had he stopped Sandusky from getting emeritus status, Penn State may have forced Sandusky off campus and avoided the worst of the scandal.

The dip into Georgia is the direct product of Ted Roof, a Georgia native himself, and former coach at Duke, Auburn, and UCF. I look for a much greater emphasis on recruiting in the south. I mean, Florida is loaded with talent, and there are only so many state schools around to spread scholarships. So there should be some rough diamonds to be found there and in other southern states. And, what rebel wouldn't want to invade the north? =8-(o)

Good point. To find as many of these "under-the-radar/good student" type of prospects as they're going to need, the coaching staff is going to have to go outside of the mid-Atlantic area that they normally dominate. So far, they've done a pretty good job in Georgia. It looks like Bench is an interesting player, and no big-time programs wanted him. So that's an early feather in the staff's cap.
